Xanthe Elbrick, Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominee and winner of a Theatre World Award for Coram Boy, will join the cast of the 2008 GLAAD Media Award winner Beebo Brinker Chronicles on March 25, replacing Marin Ireland. The play is running through April 27 at 37 Arts, directed by Leigh Silverman.
Written by Kate Moira Ryan and Linda S. Chapman, Beebo Brinker Chronicles is based on Ann Bannon's groundbreaking lesbian pulp novels of the 1950s. Beth and Laura, secret lovers in college, still pine for each other. Before they can reunite, they find themselves entangled in a web spun by Beebo Brinker, a butch denizen of the underground bar scene, and Jack, a flamboyant fop with caustic wit.
In addition to Elbrick as Laura, Beebo Brinker Chronicles stars Jenn Colella High Fidelity, Urban Cowboy in the title role, along with David Greenspan Some Men ad Jack, Carolyn Baeumler Trouble In Paradise, Bill Dawes Gross Indecency, and Autumn Dornfeld The Graduate as Beth.
The producing team includes Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner, Harriet Newman Leve, Elyse Singer, Jamie deRoy, Pam Laudenslager, Douglas Denoff and Double Play Connections.
